Mahmoud Mustafa, a Syrian refugee, embarked on a perilous journey to the UK, enduring immense hardships that often seemed insurmountable. Despite severe injuries to his right thigh and right eye, his unwavering determination and profound faith propelled him forward. Driven by a commitment to protect his family, Mahmoud's path traversed through Turkey, Greece, and France before reaching the UK.

"Silent Resilience" is a photo series that seeks to narrate Mahmoud's story and challenge prevailing representations of refugees and migrants in the UK media. This project was created in collaboration with RAMFEL (Refugee and Migrant Forum of Essex and London), a charitable organisation dedicated to supporting refugees and migrants. Through these images, we aim to reveal the human spirit and resilience behind the refugee experience, offering a more nuanced and compassionate perspective.
